Inheriting the Earth

Lead In: A Summary of where we are
As we go through this first section of Matthew 5, let's remember what these Beatitudes actually are. Far more than an “ethical code” by which humanity should live by, they are a totaling description of what a Christian looks like. They are supernaturally created adjectives that only apply to the Children of God. With the truth that only the divine heart surgery that God performs being able to create these in His children, it makes sense that they operate contrary to the natural inclinations of the human heart. Our sin nature tells us to boast in our strength, but the Bible tells us to boast in our weakness (2 Cor. 12:9). On and on the paradox of Scripture runs perpendicular to our thoughts, proving the Bible wasn’t written by man, and it is plain to see in our Verse this Morning. It is oppositional, and even confrontational to our own thoughts, to say that the meek…not the overbearing or tyrannical will inherit the Earth.
To be “Meek”, as we discussed last week, is the outward and visible-to-others manifestation of someone who has died to their own desires. It is what “dying to self” looks like. Continual forgiveness, constant prayer, never being anxious, and being in total, willing & eager submission to whatever God may bring in or out of your life. When we would rather forgive 1,000 insults and injuries than retaliate against 1…we are meek. To rephrase that, and shine a light on its contrarian nature…when we would rather forgive 1,000 insults and injuries than retaliate against 1…we will inherit the entire Earth. When we never react with anger or vengeance when our own desires or wants or feelings are offended, and when we are never offended to begin with; when we never assume respect and honor from other people simply because of who we are, but instead bear with them and love them when they disrespect or dishonor us; is what it means to be meek. However, to drive home a point we need to understand…being meek doesn't cause us to inherit the Earth, but is a description of those who will.
We closed last week, not with the end of Matthew 5:5, which we are going to discuss today, but by understanding that “being meek” requires an amount of strength that we can never conjure forth of our own will-power. No matter the level of grit or determination we have, “meekness” will always require strength that must be given to us. When God does indeed answer our prayers asking to make us meek, instead of “flipping a switch” in Heaven, He places us into situations in our life that will require it of us. This is a warning, brothers and sisters. If we are going to ask God to help us be meek…He will allow others to use and abuse us in the same ways that they used and abused His Son. Jesus Christ is the ultimate example of being meek, and He was only ever angry at the right time, for the right length of time, towards the right people…and so must we as well. To be meek is to have, and only ever act, with fully self-controlled, surgical righteous indignation, not in defense of ourselves, but in defense of the things of God. And the result of that is what we will discuss this morning.
Point #1: Remember the Romans
Let’s keep all of that dead center in our thoughts as we move forward. We need to remember this, because as we do begin to move forward with the truth that Christians are the ones who will inherit the entire World, we need to understand that it is not ourselves upon whom is the onus for doing so. No amount of strength or firepower that we can invent or generate or build will ever cause us to inherit the World. No matter our own political or cultural strength, our numbers or intellect; none of it will ever result in us inheriting the Earth. Any effort we exert; be it political or cultural, in our families or careers, in our intellect or strength; all of it, just like us, will one day rot beneath the blood and soil we fought over, and will be reduced to nothing but food for worms and maggots.
It is only by the work of God; according to His own will and purposes, for His own reasons, apart from the influence of anyone under the Sun; by which His children inherit the Earth. Plainly stated, “It is not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of The Lord.” (Zech. 4:6) that Christians will take over the World.
To support this claim, we are going to be looking at a number of Verses together, yes, but we are also going to “zoom out” in our thoughts to see what was going on when Jesus made this claim.
When Christ gave the Sermon on the Mount, He was talking to a conquered and subjugated people. These were not free-to-do-as-they-please Citizens, like we are here in America in 2025. They were under the yoke and burden of a foreign Empire. A Nation not their own broke through their borders, killed them in such numbers to force the survivors into complacency, and meddled with their Government to ensure their ways would unfold. (We discussed this when we spoke of King Herod manipulating the Priesthood because he was in Rome’s pocket.) Israel in the first Century was a conquered people, living under the hammer of Roman might and power. And Israel was just one more in a long line of Nations they controlled.
Starting in their homeland on the Italian Peninsula, around 500 BC, the engine of Ancient Rome crushed the Etruscans, Samnites, and Greek colonies. Like locusts across a field, the Romans spread into the rest of Europe with the Punic and Hellenistic wars between 246 and 146 BC, crushing Carthage, Hispania, Macedon, Greece, and Tunisia. In 133 BC they took control of Asia Minor; in 122 BC they took Gaul in southern France; and annexed Cilicia in Southern Turkey under their authority in 102 BC. Moving closer and closer to the birth of Christ, Rome warred against the Seleucid Empire, and stood victorious over Syria; then, finally, in 63 BC, with millions of dead in their wake and the sun upon their faces, the Roman Empire marched into Palestinian lands.
For around 400 years before they got there, however, Israel was continually under the rule of differing foreign Empires. 1n 167 BC, Greek General Antiochus Epiphanes IV outlawed Circumcision, burned hundreds of copies of the Old Testament, and then entered the Temple and sacrificed a pig on the Altar.
Stay with me here.
Once he did that, a Jewish Priest named Mattathias had enough, rallied his sons by his side, and engaged in relentless guerilla warfare against the Greeks. This is commonly called the Maccabean Revolt (this took place in the “Intertestimental Period” between the Old & New Testaments) and it led to the Israelites retaking Jerusalem back from Greece in 164 BC. Now, after centuries of violent holy war, the Jews were once again in charge of their own Nation…until the Romans showed up. When they did arrive, instead of finding a functioning Nation, they found the Pharisees and the Sadducees, each of them a “political” party, both vying for power, and backing their own candidate. Taking advantage of their divided Nation, everyone suspicious and even hating one another, Roman General Pompeius Magnus sided with the Pharisees, laid siege against the Temple for 3 months, entered the Holi of Holies, and told everyone that Rome was in charge. All of this was roughly 90yrs before Jesus was born, meaning that someone in Israel, who would have heard the words of Christ, could have lived his entire life, from birth to death, under Roman rule.
This is the World that Christ was born in.
A Nation whose internal rot, decay and division, led to their subjugation by a foreign Empire.
What needs to be said, however, is that all of this violence and expansion, though it was wicked, evil, and ripe with demon worship, was used by God to institute the Pax Romana, or, the “Peace of Rome.” It was a time of peace, yes…but only because of the level of war that Rome was capable of threatened the rest of humanity to “play nice”. But the fact remains true, from Caesar Augustus in 27 BC to Marcus Aurelius in 180 AD, there was a time of peace that rivals anything else in all of recorded History. To put this into perspective, our Country, America, has only been around for 249 years, but has been at war for 230 of them…
For 200 years the iron rod of Rome held the world under its power of fear-born peace,
and a homeless Carpenter born in the middle of it told His followers to be meek.
Do you see how contrary to human nature and human thinking the words of Jesus are? The people didn't want to be meek! They lived under the outcome of tyranny for centuries, and saw what it gained those who sided with it. It gave Rome an Empire that stretched in every direction and fed, housed, clothed, protected, and entertained all of its citizens with striking efficiency. In fact, to take a short “Time-Out”; the Roman Republic, before it descended into an Empire (27 BC) was the longest standing Republic run Nation (meaning run by the people and a Senate they elected) in all of History, and the only ever functioning Republic to exist longer than a single Generation…until America. They fell to Empire, gladly appointing a Tyrant to rule over them, because of constant internal strife, civil wars, and rampant sexual degeneracy and false worship that numbed the people enough to accept it. Maybe America could learn a thing or two before we go the way of the Romans. Ok, “Time-In”.
The people who gathered there on the Mount to hear God speak in Matthew 5, were living under the tangible results of what “not being meek” could gain a people. It gained them safety, civic infrastructure, and a political system that lasted longer than any other in all of human history (482 years!). Food, clothing, shelter, and safety were the results of “not being meek” that these people could touch, taste, and see. With hands and feet they lived and worked and walked amongst the evidence of their eyes, and saw firsthand what they thought to be evidence of Jesus’ words being wrong. They would have said: “How can you say that the meek will inherit the Earth Jesus? Just look around you. Look at our culture, look at our Government, look at the evidence of your hands and feet and you will see that you are wrong. The meek are the ones left to be scraped out of the gears of war, not the ones driving the engine.”
It was this same mentality that we read about in John 6:14 & 15 → “Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did (multiplying the bread and fish), said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.” [15] Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.”
Like so many students, they either weren't paying attention during the Sermon on the Mount when He told them to be meek, they had forgotten, or their sinful natures worked against His perfect words. Regardless, they continued to operate based on their own feelings, their own thoughts, and their own understanding about the nature of how reality functions.
You can't really blame them, though. Right? How easy has it been for us, with 2,000 years of Scriptural understanding being refined and accessible in our own pockets, how easy is it for us with dusty Bibles on every bedstand…to give up hope. To think that God has abandoned this World, that He is no longer in charge, or that if He is still in charge…He doesn't care enough to act.
We see Christians used and abused; we see children torn from the safety of their mothers womb; perverts running free on our streets encouraging others to accept their degeneracy; those in power refusing to stand up for truth and justice; and…we close our mouths. We go along to get along, not making waves over fear of our precious careers, over fear of how another fallen human will react if we say the God thing or live the God way…thinking that we are the ones with the power to soften or harden or change the hearts of people.
We ignore the words of Scripture that say the multitude of weapons that will be formed against us…will never succeed (Is. 54:17), we forget that the gates of Hell can not prevail against us (Mt. 16:18), we forget that Satan will flee from us when we resist him (Jm. 4:7), and we forget that God said the storms will rage against the wise man’s house just as ferociously as they do the foolish man’s house (Mt. 7:24-27).
Is your house, oh Christian, built upon the unmoving rock?
If so…then why do you care about whatever storms come your way?
The followers of Christ who tried to use violence to make Him King, were doing exactly what humans always do, and assuming that we ourselves are the standard for how the World works. We examine our strengths and weaknesses, our intellect and grit, and then use them like variables in an equation to assume how our life is going to turn out. Will we be successful? Only if we work hard enough, that's the American way, right? If hard work was the determining factor of success then the jackass would own the farm.
Will our families be happy and healthy and holy? Will our unbelieving relative or friend finally come to their senses and repent and believe? Only if we pray enough, act how we're supposed to, and go to Church every week, right? Will our Nation turn back from its descent into violence and hatred? Only if we vote hard enough, right? It's all on us, depends on us; the thoughts we think or don't think; the actions we take or don't take; the votes we cast or don't cast; everything about our life, our family, our church, and our Nation is fully dependent on us…right?
Now, to look at the full context of those Verses I just read, we will be able to see exactly how it really is the meek who inherit the Earth.
John 6:11-21 → “And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. [12] So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.” [13] Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. [14] Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.” [15] Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone. [16] Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea, [17] got into the boat, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was already dark, and Jesus had not come to them. [18] Then the sea arose because a great wind was blowing. [19] So when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the boat; and they were afraid. [20] But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” [21] Then they willingly received Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.”
The meek will inherit the Earth, because the God who commands the fundamental elements of Nature itself, treading across its waves with the rising sun breaking the horizon at His back, has resources for His children that multiply the more they are used. We tend to think, because of what our fallen human experience has taught us about living in a fallen human world, that when something gets used…there is less of it. But God is not like us.
Do you want your actions to have an exponential effect on yourself, your family, and your Nation? Then take more and more of them, without fear that you will grow too tired to continue.
Do you want your words to carry more and more weight? Then speak more and more of them, without fear that you’ll never be able to come up with more.
Do you want your time in Scripture to bear more fruit in your life? Then spend more and more time in it.
This truth of a God whose resources increase the more they are used, is even seen in the way in which He designed the very muscles of our bodies. Do you want your muscles to grow? Then rip and tear them apart. Break them down, and they will grow. We serve a God who imbues power into everything we do…when we do it not of our own strength and intellect, but simply out of a desire to see His name glorified.
Do not be afraid, brothers and sisters, of asking God for help in all the ways that you need it, thinking that you have used up everything He has portioned aside for you. His grace toward you will never diminish and His patience with you will only ever grow the more of it you use, because the punishment for those things that spur His patience into action, was poured out on Christ instead of you.
Because Christ died for your sins, there is now never nothing but abounding mercy towards you, that is new every morning (Lam. 3:22 & 23). Humble yourself before His mighty right hand and boldly approach the throne of Grace to drink from the well of living waters that deepens the more you drink from it. The meek shall inherit the Earth, because, just like “being meek” can not be conjured forth by us, the inheritance can not be won by us either.
Point #2: Christ the Heir
As we move forward with understanding how the meek shall indeed inherit the entire Earth; first we understand that it is not because of us and our strength and our willpower, as we just discussed, and second, we need to understand that the God we serve has already inherited the entire Earth.
In Psalm 2:7 & 8, when God tells Jesus that if He asks for the Nations, He will give them to Him…for us today, we can know that it already happened. In fact, Christ already owning the Nations is the standard that He appeals to when He gives the Church her marching orders in The Great Commission. Matthew 28:18-20 → “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. [19] Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”
The entire Earth, and every area and aspect of authority that resides within her borders of blood and soil; and every celestial section of the world beyond the rolling clouds of ours, is under the divine and perfect authority of Jesus Christ. There is no President or Priest; nor Country or Court that exists in this age or the age to come, that can operate outside of the glowing authority of Jesus Christ. He is the King of every king, the Lord of every lord, and the ruling and reigning Monarch over every decision-making-body across the entire planet. Plainly stated: neither the people, the politicians, or the prince of the power of the air (Satan) are in charge of this World…Jesus is.
Philippians 2:5-11 says it this way → “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, [6] who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, [7] but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. [8] And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. [9] Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, [10] that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, [11] and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Did you hear that? Because Jesus Christ displayed perfect meekness by being in submission to the will of His Father, making Himself of no reputation, lowering Himself to the role of a slave, who humbly and obediently walked to His own death…because of this, God has exalted Him and given Him a name that is above every name. Every name and every knee; every tyrant and every tongue; all of them are even now pinned beneath the celestial weight of His Kingly Scepter that stands unmoving in His heavenly Throne Room.
In John 3:34 & 35, Jesus says → “For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure. [35] The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand.”
In Philippians 3:21, when Paul is speaking of the resurrection bodies we will have in eternity, he says that the power God will use to create them…is the same power that He uses to subdue all things beneath Him.
In 1st Corinthian 15:27 & 28, Paul says that the end of the entire World isn't going to come about until every…single…enemy, one by one, has been defeated by Jesus Christ, the very last one being death because…“He has put all things under His feet.”
And in Hebrews 1:1-4 the author says that, → “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, [2] has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; [3] who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, [4] having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.”
And to repeat the Great Commission, the last thing Jesus said before He sat down upon the Davidic Throne of the Universe at His Father’s right hand, was: “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Mt. 28:18-20)
Jesus Christ has already inherited the Earth and everything in it.
There is nothing that doesn't belong to Him. There is nowhere outside of His authority. No corner of our mind or will runs free from His influence; not a single army can march over a battlefield unless He allows them to; no cell can mutate outside of His say-so; no cancer can grow; no car can crash; no leaf can fall; no empire can rise; no baby can cry; no elder can go gently into that good night; and no one can rage against the dying of the light unless He be the one to save and redeem them, and thereby empower them to be meek and inherit the Earth.
And that is precisely what He does.
When you first repented of your sins and believed in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and your sin and its punishment was laid upon the Second Person of The Trinity and His righteousness given to you; when your callused and cold heart of sin and stone was torn asunder from your rotting chest and replaced with one that flows golden with God-loving blood, allowing it to be eternally indwelt by the Third Person of The Trinity…when God this to you…He made you to be Co-Heirs with The Son who has inherited the Earth.
Point #3 Co-Heirs
We, fellow Christians, brothers and sisters, we as the Children of God, are Co-Heirs with Jesus Christ, of everything that He inherited. Listen to this from Romans 8:15-21 → “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” [16] The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, [17] and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. [18] For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. [19] For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. [20] For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; [21] because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.”
The Creation is eagerly waiting for us to deliver it from the bondage of corruption.
If we are children of God, then we are co-heirs with Christ in everything that He inherited…and what He inherited is the entire World. Every nation. Every Courtroom. Every Public Square. Every body politick, legislature, senate, parliament, and house belongs to Jesus Christ, and therefore belongs to us as well.
The entire World belongs to those whom God has given a new heart. The entire World belongs to those within whom the Holy Spirit lives. The entire World belongs to those who; when they take their final breath on the Earth that belongs to them and are standing alone before the all-seeing Judge of the Universe, their sins laid bare before their naked bodies and demanded an explanation of; are declared innocent. The entire World and all that is in it, belongs to those who are innocent in the eyes of God. The entire World belongs…to the Christians. When we go out into the World, living as Christians ought to live, confronting our culture and the corruption we see in the halls of congress, we are going out into somewhere that God has already given us.
And because of this, because Jesus Christ has already inherited the entire Earth, with all power and authority, both above and below, both in this age and the age to come…given to Him…and thereby to us…it means something that American Christians in the modern age seem to have forgotten.
When Nebuchadnezzar comes to his senses after eating grass for 7years, and says, in Daniel 4:35, that no one can restrain the hands of God…and Paul tells us in 1st Corinthians 12:27, that we are the hands of God…that means something for how we are supposed to be living.
Are you living like the hands of God that can not be stopped or restrained? Or are you keeping your faith nice and quiet, afraid of making waves to make peace at any cost? Do you forgive those who insult and injure you, or retaliate against them? Do you, with strength that can never be attributed to you, pull with life-changing violence the plank from your own eye to better see the speck within your brother’s? Do you willingly accept, with never a voice of complaint, the waves of perfect providence that God allows to crash against your stone-built house?
Are you meek, or are you cowardly?
Do you turn a blind eye to the billions of abortions that stain your culture, explaining them away as “Women’s Rights”? Do you parrot your father the devil when he says that “love is love”, because it might hurt someone’s feelings? Do you raise your voice in defense of the things of God? Do you email your Senators and Assemblymen to hold them accountable to the Law of God? Do you pray for those who persecute you? Do you haphazardly cast your pearls because you think that you, yourself, are responsible for the salvation of the swine before you?
Start living like the stewards of the World He bought for you. Start living like the salt of the Earth, preserving it until the day when He splits the sky asunder and returns to claim the talent of Creation He gave to you.
Now, to bring this to a close, something must be said. This kind of language, free from the sanctifying work that God has promised to perform in the hearts of His children, will always descend into tyranny. Those who put the “con” in Conservative; who co-opt our faith and ride the red wave of the martyrs yet refuse to live like them; who would rather retaliate than forgive; they have used this truth for centuries like the mighty weapon that it is.
How many people have been crushed under the name of Christ by people that He daily destroys in Hell? How many people who call themselves Christians, when they have seen a certain man from Jericho who has fallen among thieves that stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and left him half dead…cross to the other side of the road instead of helping? Such people are not Christians, and the caverns of Hell will be forever wet with their selfish and sinful blood.
Any who use the name of Christ but refuse to live like He did,
will inherit nothing but dust.
For that is what all of this hangs upon, children of God. Living like Christ did, in every way. Being willing to endure all of the things that He endured. Only ever displaying self-controlled righteous anger at the right time, for the right length of time, towards the right people. Eagerly accepting whatever God puts in our path, knowing that it is beneficial to us, regardless of the temporary pain it may cause, and forgiving 1,000 sins against you instead of retaliating against a single one of them.
To repeat one of the Verses we already mentioned; Romans 8:16-17 → “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, [17] and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”
If we are children of God, not only will The Holy Spirit bear witness of it; not only will we be heirs of everything that Christ inherited…but we will indeed suffer. We as the Children of God have inherited the entire Earth from Christ…and we will suffer because of it. We will suffer because the World that we inherited is going to hate us because it hated Him (Mt. 10:22). We will suffer because “all who desire to live a Godly life will be persecuted” (1 Tim. 3:12), and it is a blessing. “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Jesus says in Matthew 5:11 & 12.
Do you see the need for meekness?
When we consider our entire lives to be nothing but fuel to be spent, rearranging every aspect of them to align with what Scripture teaches, and tell the World that we are going to inherit it the easy way or the hard way…it has empire shaping, planet shaking ramifications. Why didn't Rome inherit the Earth? Because they weren't meek. Their precious republic and bloody empire fell to dust because they would rather retaliate than forgive.
Why will America fall? Because she assumes that it is by might and power that freedom can ring throughout the land. She assumes that the bloodguilt of a billion abortions is going unnoticed, that the sodomites should be legally allowed to feed their filth to the rest of us, and that voting in a certain way makes someone a Christian. Until America learns what it means to be meek, she will continue down the path that she is currently on.
Rise up you children of Clyde-Savannah! Speak the truth of who God is, and what He has done to save you into every area of your life. Let your neighbors and friends feel your Christians arms wrapped about their dying legs as they march into Hell; press the Crown Rights of Jesus Christ into the halls of political power; forgive those who hurt and use you, and pray for them when they persecute you. We have nothing to fear because the World already belongs to us because Jesus Christ is God, lived a perfect sinless life, died under Pontius Pilate, after three days rose back to life, and ascended to the right hand of His father, where He is administering His perfect authority against everything and everyone in all of Creation.
It doesn't matter what the World can say or do, it still belongs to Jesus Christ. Let the heathen nations rage! What have you got for me you pagans! Bring it on, my God already owns you! Clyde-Savannah belongs to Jesus Christ. Wayne County is His. New York State is His possession, and the entire Country is His to do with as He pleases. His will is still going to unfold amongst the inhabitants of Earth (Dan. 4:35) ; and both He and we will be standing victorious over the old Creation as it burns and a new one is built on its ashes. We are going to inherit the Earth the easy way or the hard way…so we have no reason to fear their rejections, votes, vitriol or violence.
The easy way, easy to understand and easy to follow through with, is only through 4 things: The Word, Water, Bread, and Wine. When we weekly gather and sing with full chests and loud voices, no matter how out of key they may be, and open The Word together; when we ourselves daily open The Word, drinking from the bottomless well of Scripture and are thereby transformed more and more into the image of His Son; when we join together in the Bread and Wine of The Lord’s Table, and Baptize those who have repented of their sins and believed in Him; the salt will never lose its flavor, or be rendered useless and trampled underfoot.
The hard way, just like with Rome, is: They kill us until we win,
and we forgive them as they are doing it.
